I know the title got your attention. Attention whore, attention hog, center of attention, puffing up your chest, whatever you call it is a good thing. Good when it comes to making your business a star. Senseless attention whoring as a constant fix to one's low self-esteem is some other annoying issue.

I really love writing stuff people like. What I like even more is speaking to people about stuff they like or should be liking. Crazy fast internet and social media has made the virtual world the real world for many people. Years ago search engines, (not the library) became the go to place for instant updated information. It only made sense to follow the lead and write stuff to get people's attention on search engines. tweaking words, meta descriptions and titles became the exausting thing to do just to achieve the crown as king of your niche in search. Unfortunately scummy spammers always find ways to ruin good things by flooding many Google searches with garbage information so they can reak in big Adsense bucks.

Exactly how pimped out is your social media brand page. Chances are it's getting whipped in the looks and popularity contest, but why does it even matter? You're probably following the trend everyone does.

• Build a profile
• Add a name or simple logo.
• Tell a couple hundred people to like or follow it and hope you're more famous than god tomorrow.

Sadly everything's wrong with that approach. Two weeks ago I was guest speaker at the Miami Cutler Bay Business Association where I showed why and how to build a killer social media brand page to attarct hordes of friends and customers. A survey of the crowd showed most had a Facebook or Twitter page, but only half did any marketing or beautification of their page. I asked why, and the two main reasons were they didn't know how or didn't have time. There's a simple fix for that at the end of this article.

Who ever heard of a breakout business success story that didn't have some sort of drama attached to it? There are many exceptions, but a great majority of published success stories tend to have some sort of major conflict, founders having beef, or competitors relentlessly fighting to drive a nail in the coffin of a promising startup. Name any one major business success story and I can give you an example where they had some kind of conflict or drama before reaching stable ground and pay dirt.

For women marketers, female entrepreneurs, and moms in business who trade office space for home, kids, daycare, and laptops, the time's never been riper than now to dive in the "Diapers to Dollars" phenomenon. The great recession was really bad, but if it could speak it would gladly take credit for creating more WAHMs than ever. WAHM is a term you can't miss if you frequent social networks, trendy blogs, and specialty chat forums. It means Work at Home Moms. Living in South Florida I see amazing displays of nature from animals with sharp keen senses right near my own backyard. One such animal is the majestic american bald eagle. Like a cunning hunter or genius business person, this animal fully maximize all natural given tools at it's disposal. One in particular stand out however, Its keen sense of vision. I had the rare chance to witness live how the eagle spots a meal prey from afar, then strategically manuever itself above for a successful aerial ambush on an unsuspecting seagull prey. Always be mentally alert for opportunities laying in wait

You know how they say don't mix business with pleasure? Well they're right, it gets way too personal and messy when the two meet. However there's one recurring exception where you should roll out the welcome mat and KISS in business.

Whether you're a flashy startup company looking to rank at the top of your niche or an established business with brand star power, one thing's certain, you need help. That help often come in the form of internships. There's the informal way to do it giving a fresh college/high school walk-in a chance to prove themselves. There's a better way however through a well designed and thought out internship program.

It's undeniable, Pinterest is the new stud of social media. Women especially are addicted to it like a grizzly to a picnic basket. It was inevitable I'd eventually cover this craze simply because I can't escape it. TV's talking about it, blogs are blogging about it, and my Facebook and Twitter feeds are packed with chatter about it.

What's that quirky ass idea lingering in the back of your head? The one that fills your specific weird personal need, and possibly someone else's. A lot of us say "I don't like to dream about getting paid," but sometimes you just lose yourself in the moment and float off to fantasy island thinking about the lush rewards of a big payday.  Then you vigorously get thrown back to your present state, the situation you view as a temporary phase. You just might make your dream come true with a funky idea that fills a personal irritating need. That quirky and funky idea that could be your stroke of genius.
