Google Panda 2.2 Wants High Quality Plus Social Authority and Influence from your Site
If you thought the launch of Google Panda versipon 1 was a brutal nail in the coffin for many low quality websites, you were right. However in June 21, 2011 the search giant took it to another level and launched Panda version 2.2. This version was not only aimed at finding and eliminating scraper sites (sites that steal or republish other website's content across the web), but checking to see how social your site is and how often other people like or share your content. It's about your social authority and influence.
As harsh as it sounds and maybe a little unfair to many smaller websites, Google Panda 2.2 is saying it's no longer good enough to have a site with great original content. Now it wants to see how engaging your site is in social media by the amount of times people share, like, retweet, and plus1 that information. This seem to increase your website's quality rating.
Their search metrics also seem to factor in other things like website aesthetics, how visually appealing the site is, how long people are staying on it. Many websites with great content go unnoticed for a long period of time. Even if visitors find them through search engines, they don't stay very long. According to SEO experts, a part of the reason many good websites don't get the social media love they deserve could simply be that the information while useful is quite boring, and the page visuals might not be eye grabbing enough. Yes the very images you use are a factor in your search engine ranking. A very appealing or interesting image is a great way to compliment an article or a blog post. This makes visitors stay on your site longer than normal because of the visual attraction.
Google and other big searches factor in your bounce rate which measures how long people stay on your site. If visitors stay on your site longer, your bounce rate will decrease which help to increase your site ranking in the search results, this sending you more traffic and possibly more sales and advertising revenue.
Panda 2.2 is looking at all these things. So wow, you create original and relevant content as instructed for years, but now you have to get your social campaign relevant, market your business website and encourage people to share it across social networks and other forms of social media. Get interactive with the people in your networks, don't just submit information to them, but actually speak to them and answer whatever questions they have. Unfortunately the search marketing game just got a little harder and your business site or any other site will have to step up and increase their social authority to meet Google Panda's new ranking stipulations.
